Date At Midnight release their third album ‘Fading into This Grace’ on 3rd May 2024 through Manic Depression Records. They clearly seem to be keeping the tradition of great releases coming from Italy this year. The album opens with Rendez-vous pumping punked up postpunk to pound the dancefloor to a pulp! Epic! This Affection sees the tempo drop slightly with a beautifully crafted goth song which has a great switch to pulsing deathrock / new wave for the last 1.45 seconds.Wow!
Another Graceis like Rozz Williams era Christian Death but with whole new level of deathrock power. Love it! No Contract -Red Zone – sees the tempo drop down to Sisters of Mercy intro and driving bass to match. Really some great work on the guitars that captures the ghost of 90s Gothic Rock perfectly! Nice!
No Need To Define – musically has lovely hint of Rosetta Stone but still sounding like a breath of fresh air. Goth 11/10! Useless Love – really some great musicianship which has the light shone on it by some great mastering by William Faith reminds me of the very underrated band Black Atmosphere from the 90s. Great! Carmilla – has an almost Cure like dark pop bounce to it. Lovely! The Privation – has a spooky desolate feel hints of Fields of The Nephilim. Nice! The Line keeps The Fields Of The Nephilim fire burning into the smoke machine drenched night. Fantastic!
Daniele,Pasquale,Francesco and Manuel have easily produced not only their best album so far, but one of the top 10 Goth albums of 2024! A Gothic masterpiece! One to catch live this year.

The new release from Italy’s Tourdeforce is upon us and follows up the success of 2022s EP “Six in the key of death” which had the band breathing new life into Death In June classics by powering them up with injected synthpop / synthwave soundscapes. For the new album they have delved further into neofolk and reworked classics from Sol Invictus, Coil, Death In June, Current 93 and Above the Ruins with the songs restrung in the key of New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, with some touch of early Nine Inch Nails.
The album opens with A Ship Is Burning – a damn catchy gothed up synthpop classic which will become a hit on the dancefloor. In The Wake of the Wolf – nice mix of industrial Depeche Mode Colliding with NIN will ignite the dancefloor! Death of The West – Pet Shop Boys swimming through New Order. Lovely! Fire of The Mind – reminds me of New Order’s Temptation with vocals that have the essence of Pet Shop Boys making it something completely new and beautiful with a strong 80s new wave / power pop sound to smash any dancefloor! Media – has almost Halloween film score opening ,sounds a bit like early Depeche Mode it could easily have graced MTV if there was a video.Nice! CrowleyMass – industrialised with hints of NIN, Ministry, samples of Crowley reminds me of Men Without Hats and “the Safety Dance” Poptastic! Gold Is King – classic 80s pumped up with a cyberpunk Donna Summer– I Feel Love beat . Wow! All Pigs Must Die – turned into a new synthwave classic with hints of Depeche Mode and Aha Great! Murder Made History – a great piece of darkwave which reminds of Decoded Feedback. In Days To Come – a mix of Kraftwerk, Scott Aitken and Waterman washed with techno. A dancefloor hit! Stormclouds Over Europe – Features some Putin samples “Feel The Hate, Feel The Tyranny” seems quite apt. Darkwave industrial beat drives this to an end. The album is a great synthwave / New wave album and nice to hear a band putting their own stamp on the arrangements rather than just a cloned cover versions.
Hail The Electronic Sun is released on April 17, 2024 via SPQR label and you can catch the band live at this years WGT in Leipzig Order The Album At SPQR
Where most musicians create their own atmosphere to inspire or unleash the creativity that is held within and sculpt it into the perfect painted soundscape. Pororoka doesn’t have this freedom or luxury due to ruZZias criminal war against Ukraine where civilians and homes are bombarded daily by drones and missiles and flesh and nerves are constantly shredded to the bone. Pororoka the Ukrainian darkfolk project has released a new song Aidar about the voice of the river from the occupied territory in the east of Ukraine. An expression of escapism and the memories of a peaceful childhood home. “Aidar is a memory of my parents’ native home. A bright symbol of my childhood. It could have taken my life, but it did not. Unpredictable, dangerous, and magnetic,” said Svitlanka Sugak, of Pororoka. If it wasn’t for criminal war waged by a set of primitive retards I am sure Pororoka would be freely touring Europe as their sound would easily appeal to fans of Lili Refrain, Eivor, Myrkur, Heilung, Dead Can Dance, Omnia and they have the potential to be as big!
Last March, Pororoka released the folk ballad “Hey, Look Around” devoted to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Please listen and support the artist below and help them grow in the worst of times:
Italy’s Tanks and Tears have released their second album Timewave.A clever fusion of 80s synths, and updated New Wave. The instrumental intro would not be out of place from a lot of classic 80s films could be The Terminator crossed with The Keep.
The title track Timewave is an instant dancefloor smash as a blend of powered up She Past Away, sprinkled with Drab Majesty Lovely!
Nightmare captures the 80s New Wave spirit which will have feet moving on the dancefloor.
Darkside was released as separate single – a great song that mixes well into classic new wave, minimal and coldwave.
Crystal ball yet another track which will work well on the goth new wave dancefloor. Haze of Lies sees a drop in tempo to create a deep dreamy 80s new wave soundscape. Galaxies keeps the dark 80s new wave heart beating on the dancefloor. Vampire Bat has a darker gothic new wave feel. The album ends with the dancefloor igniter S.O.F.T a lovely hard pulsing beat, proves this album is must for fans of classic 80s New Wave or a darker sound than Nuovo Testamento. Yet another great band to come from the land of darkwave. Catch these guys live and get the album now from
The wait is finally over for the seventh album from Sweden’s Goth/New Wave/Postpunk rockers Then Comes Silence with Trickery due to burst forth onto Stereos everywhere on 5th April 2024! The band has come a long since its formation in 2012 by Alex Svenson in Stockholm being inspired by by a strong attraction to horror and the occult it’s no wonder they have been taking the goth world by storm with their stunning powerhouse live performances ever since. Their new album Trickery is released on long time custodians of Gothic Music Metropolis Records.
The album opens with Ride or Die which is the first track released as a video. The track has the instant hallmark of being yet another Goth dancefloor classic with its instant ear hooking chorus – “Take my soul, my blood, my words Let it be, ride or die.” Great!
Like A Hammer the second track was also released as video. A swirling keyboard mist wraps itself around the throbbing heart of bass, drums and guitars with vocal delivering the perfect Goth coup de grâce. A hammer to shatter any Goth dancefloor! Nice!
Feel The Cold – loving the new use of synths which just add another level of macabre magnificence, ascending the peaks of postpunk to new wave heaven. Epic! Tears and Cries – features the perfect horror film synths around the beating heart of drums, bass and guitars, the additional female vocals. This song is so good it would have been a hit in the 80s. Classic New Wave /Goth – Spooky! Stay Strange – sees the gothic rock power turned up to 13! A really great Goth rock anthem with infernal synths which transform into creepy, reminds me of the class of the classic Ghost album Infestissumam – Perfection!
Stiffs – the perfect Goth singalong track “If I can’t have have your soul Na na na na I can take, take your bones Na na na na” complete with creepy clown intermission at the end! Ace! Blind Eye – great tribal drumming akin to Southern Death Cult on occult acid! Possibly the best song Then Comes Silence has ever crafted. Close to music possession as you will get. A pure spectre of sound to smash the dancefloor! “Deep down in a nightmare” – Hell Yeah! The Masquerade – it’s like John Carpenter has been unleashed on Keyboards! This the perfect mix of darkwave and New Wave. What a great occult menacing themed spooky track. Love it!
Never Change – slithers through the aural cavities demanding your feet get stomping on the dancefloor. Love it! Dead Friend – has a strong goth punk vibe reminds me slightly of Iggy Pops blah Blah Blah on steroids but unmistakably the brilliance of Then Comes Silence. Epic! Runners – “We’re flying like bats Filling the sky”, yet another brilliant song with clever retro 80s sounding synths swirling round the throbbing drums and bass pierced sharp shards of guitars. Has ahibt of the heat 80s band Missing persons.
Beautiful! Ghost House – the prefect nightmare crescendo to bring the album to a close “Abandoned hearts, abandoned souls Abandoned love” spooktacular with hint ofThe Horrors Magnificent! Without a doubt one of my favourite albums this year and possible the best Goth/ New Wave album of 2024! Tom van Heesch has done a fantastic job with the mix. I can’t wait to see Then Comes Silence rocking Darkmas with these tracks in Witten along with The Foreign Resort and Raskolnikov not to mention a certain DJ De’Ath on the decks afterwards could be the perfect party this summer!
